The Treatment Plan Script

Only 47% of the treatment dentists recommend gets accepted. Four lines for the next time a patient hesitates. No new software, no extra staff.

Why this works

The patient says yes to the exam and no to the plan.

Most offices answer with a discount or a pamphlet. Both lose the patient, and the discount costs you money.

The no is rarely about the tooth. It is about cost, fear or timing, and nobody asked which.

The fix is to find which one it is, in one question.

Cost is the reason in 72% of the no's, so start there and stay calm.

You are busy. This takes about three minutes at the chair, with the words you already use.

A patient who hears a discount thinks the price was too high to begin with.

A patient who is asked what is stopping them tells you the real reason, and you can solve that one.

Find the real no. Fix that one.

You do not pressure anyone. You make the next step small enough to say yes to.

A booked small step beats a big maybe every time.

The copy. Take it.

Line 1

Acknowledge

When they say "I need to think about it."

"That is fair. This is a real decision. Can I ask what you are thinking about, so I can help?"

Line 2

Find the real reason

After they answer. Stay quiet and listen.

"If cost were not a factor, would you want to go ahead with this?"

If yes, it is cost. If no, it is fear or timing. Now you know which one to work on.

Line 3

Offer a way to start

If it is cost. Never a discount.

"Here are the ways our patients spread this out. Which of these would feel comfortable?"

Then list your real payment options. Do not invent any.

Line 4

Book the next step

Before they leave. Never "call us when you are ready."

"Let us put the first visit on the calendar now. Would Tuesday at 8 or Thursday at 2 work better?"

Do it in 10 minutes

  1. Print the four lines. Put them in the treatment room.
  2. Use Line 2 with the next patient who hesitates.
  3. Count how many leave with a booked time.

Only offer payment options your office really has. Do not promise what you cannot give.

If the reason is fear, slow down. Book a short visit to talk, not the whole plan.

Same four lines, every hesitation. That is the whole system.

Straight talk. There is no study behind this script. The 47% and 72% figures are third-party survey numbers. Edit it so it sounds like your office.
